(googledocs)[Internal] Problematic AGL devices

Due to an issue with a custom firmware version, thousands of devices are at risk of being unable to communicate with the DMS.

The firmware versions in question are:

37.0.5-MessagePack plus 240V monitor_SAAGL
37.0.4-MessagePack plus 240V monitor_public

The former version was built as a custom firmware version for AGL.

The issue with these firmwares is that they rely on hard-coded IP addresses to talk to the DMS, instead of DNS names (e.g. dms.wattwatchers.net). Since these IP addresses are outdated and don't point to the DMS server anymore, the devices are now incapable to report to the DMS.

We compiled a list of 3910 devices that were calibrated at the factory using one of these versions:

There might be more devices affected as they could have been upgraded to the problematic firmware version after being calibrated.

What to do

When coming across a device that is running one of these versions, it is recommended to:

  • Try upgrading the firmware while the device is still communicating with the DMS
  • Check the production date (via the DMS > Calibration History) before allowing a warranty return. Also, talk to Gavin or the Sales team in case we want to provide a warranty replacement regardless.
