This article contains a guide to using the right server address when pointing devices.

dcs-au1-vpg-udp-2.wattwatchers.net |
| Other (public) |
dcs-au1-udp-2.wattwatchers.net | |
Staging servers
| Communication | Address | |
| Wifi | https://dcs-au1-stage-web-1.wattwatchers.net | |
| Cellular | VPG Soracom SIM (private) |
dcs-au1-vpg-stage-udp-2.wattwatchers.net |

Notes:
- Devices pointed to the private server (VPG) that are not in the Wattwatchers Soracom VPG group will not be able to connect to Mercury.
- A Soracom SIM belongs to the VPG when it is associated with the VPG group in Soracom. The VPG group is a different concept than the DeviceGroup in Mercury.
- Any devices can be pointed to the public server, including M2MOne devices and customer SIMs. Although Soracom SIMs can also be pointed at the public server, it would miss out on the benefits (added security and traffic performance) of the VPG network. So Wattwatchers Soracom SIMs should be pointed at the VPG aka private server.
